Ways to connect
How Dooya can work with Home Assistant.
The right option depends on the exact model and the features you want. Most homes will use just one of these approaches.
Connector or Motionblinds-compatible gateway
Supported two-way motors talk to Home Assistant through a compatible gateway, using the Motionblinds integration. When the motor, gateway and network all support it, Home Assistant knows where each curtain is.
Matter connection
Some current hardware can use a Matter controller or bridge. Before we rely on it, we check position reporting, limits, group control and what happens after a power cut.
Standalone wall and remote control
Your curtains keep a simple wall switch or remote that works without Home Assistant. Automation adds convenience; it’s never the only way to open the curtains.
Get the curtain hardware right first
Motor strength, curtain weight, track shape, how much space the curtain takes when open, where the power is and access for servicing all affect the result. No app can fix an undersized motor or a power point nobody can reach.
We plan the motor, controls and gateway alongside the curtains themselves, so the Home Assistant connection is settled before ordering, not guessed at during setup.
Automations work better when the curtain reports back
A one-way radio command tells a curtain to move but can’t confirm where it stopped. Two-way feedback is better when automations rely on a known position, when several tracks need to line up, or when you want the dashboard to show what someone did by hand.
Where the gateway sits and how your network is set up matter too. Control can be fully local and still feel flaky if the network blocks the gateway’s discovery messages and live updates.

Does Dooya work with Home Assistant?+
Supported Dooya systems work locally through Home Assistant’s Motionblinds integration. It depends on the exact motor and gateway, so we check the model numbers before anything is ordered.
What is Dooya Pro?+
The name alone doesn’t tell you how the system communicates or whether it’ll work with Home Assistant. Ask for the full motor, track, receiver and gateway model numbers, plus written confirmation that the curtain reports its position.
Can the curtains still work without Home Assistant?+
They should. We include a simple wall switch or handheld remote, so the curtains still work during maintenance or if the controller is offline.
