Good fit

This service makes sense when…

01

Maintenance is not the same as constant updating

A cared-for system is not necessarily on the newest release every week. Updates are assessed for security, compatibility and value, then applied with a usable backup and rollback path.

The boring work matters: battery schedules, expiring certificates, integration deprecations, network changes and documentation that stays current after devices are replaced.

02

Support can begin with another installer's system

We can take over a maintainable existing system after a baseline audit. If credentials, backups or documentation are missing, the first step may be a rescue engagement rather than immediate enrolment.

Process

A clear path through the work.

01

Baseline audit

We document the system, risks, versions and backup state.

02

Care schedule

Checks and update windows are agreed around the household.

03

Monitor and maintain

Routine work is logged and disruptive changes are controlled.

04

Respond

When a fault appears, the support route and response class are already known.

Support scoped to the system

Care is quoted after a baseline review of the system, response needs and the remote or on-site responsibility Smarter is taking on.

Questions

Before you decide.

01What does smart home maintenance include?

The service can cover backups, controlled updates, integration and device health checks, remote diagnosis, documentation updates and defined on-site support within the agreed scope.

02Can you maintain a system you did not install?

Usually, after an audit. We first establish ownership, access, backups, architecture and safety. Systems with serious gaps may need remediation before ongoing support begins.

03Do I need a care plan for a simple Aqara or Apple Home setup?

Probably not. Care plans are intended for larger or more integrated homes where downtime, undocumented changes or specialist response have a meaningful cost.

04How is ongoing support quoted?

After a baseline review. The quotation states the health-check cadence, response expectations, remote scope, on-site inclusions and exclusions for that system.

We will help decide what belongs in one system, what should stay independent, and what is not worth automating.
