No-neutral wiring changes the product choice
A no-neutral smart switch draws a trickle of power through the light circuit, even when the light looks off. It works well with compatible lights, but it narrows your device choice, affects low-power lights and limits which devices can relay signals in a Zigbee network (the low-power wireless mesh many smart devices use).
In a full renovation, adding neutral wires to selected switches opens up more options later. For a lighter upgrade, a well-planned no-neutral setup may be the smarter choice.
