KNX and Home Assistant can have different jobs

An existing or planned KNX system does not need to be ripped out to gain a modern interface and broader integrations. KNX can retain deterministic building control while Home Assistant provides orchestration, visualization and carefully selected cross-system automations.

The boundary needs to be documented. Core lighting and climate functions should not depend on a hobby-grade bridge simply because it made the first demo convenient.

The network is part of the smart-home scope

A landed property can expose weak coverage, roaming issues and overloaded consumer routers quickly. Access-point locations, wired backhaul, equipment space and recovery access belong in the early design, alongside lighting and curtains.

Cost planning

Landed projects are quoted from the actual network scope, number of systems and whether existing KNX, security or M&E controls are retained. Floor area alone is not a useful rate card.

Planning a landed property system.

01Can Home Assistant integrate with KNX?

Yes. A documented KNX/IP interface can expose selected group addresses to Home Assistant. We keep core control responsibilities clear so the bridge adds capability without making the home fragile.

02Should a landed home rely entirely on wireless devices?

Usually not. Wired network backhaul and suitable wired control remain valuable for critical and high-traffic systems. Wireless protocols are then used deliberately where they offer flexibility or avoid unnecessary construction.

03When should the integrator join a landed project?

Before electrical, lighting-control, network and reflected-ceiling plans are frozen. Early coordination prevents duplicate systems and inaccessible equipment.

04Can the work be phased?

Yes, if the base network, wiring allowances and control boundaries are designed for the later phases from the start.
